"Let me in." The saga is a remake
But back to the remake. In the beginning, the film, by the way, is rather a little disappointing. First of all, I came from the cold to a warm cinema, and they immediately show you exactly the same frost again. At first, I sighed a little about it. Also, the main antagonist of the film, who is represented here in the person of a stupid young schoolboy, was very angry.
But this is so - the quibbles are purely subjective. But the stupid, shell-shocked police irritate you really very much. It would seem that for a long time everyone was shown in the same film "Leon" - how the police should work in such cases. When a series of brutal murders takes place in the area, it is not a lone bald cop with a pistol in a shaking hand who enters the house of the main suspect, in such cases a SWAT squad consisting of about twenty powerful fighters armed to the teeth, who do not leave a single living place in the house at all, even if there are ten vampires. They are bombarded with gas charges, and if necessary, half the house is lifted into the air. Plus, in such cases, cordons are certainly placed literally on every kilometer of the highway. Even a vampire like a mosquito is unable to slip through them, and in the film an ordinary schoolboy calmly passes, and at the same time his huge suitcase with a vampire inside is not even searched.
But despite all this, the film is very cool, and then I'll explain why. The film shows typical problems of our world, but they are shown so acutely that it causes great respect for the authors. I also really like the fact that this is, in fact, not a vampire movie at all. Vampires are only here as an external canvas. This movie is exclusively about us, about people. The film is about alienation and loneliness.
Some moments from the life of the main character Owen are very characteristically shown. Here he is crying, trying to tell his father something important through tears, but his father does not even try to listen to him, reducing the whole conversation to phrases "Don't listen to the nasty things that your mother tells you" and "So that I don't hear this anymore". Or he good-naturedly greets one of the guys who oppress him in class, trying to establish at least some normal relations with them, and after a couple of minutes he is already drowned in the pool. Similarly, his mother doesn't give a damn about him, who devotes all her free time to prayers and running around related to the divorce process. Actually, there seems to be a boy, but on the other hand, he doesn't seem to be there, everyone looks through him as if he were an empty place or a ghost.
And the only one who notices him as a human is a little vampire girl, a creepy bloody killer. Only she sees someone in him. And he sees it in her. And that's why they're happy together. For them, there is no one in this world, there are only two of them - and not even figuratively, but in the most literal sense of the word.
THE VERDICT: It's a very good movie. There are complaints, but this is not the point. Even if not all the actions of the characters are adequate, but this does not spoil the film much.
Well, to top it all off, I note that in addition to all of the above, this is a real vampire movie, dark and bloody, exactly what such a movie should be. Once again, I would like to note that fans of the film "Twilight" are advised to pass strictly by. This is simply not a movie for you.
